CBD OIL FOR PETS F.A.Q

How do I give this tincture to my pet?

It is simple! Give your dog a few drops – or the entire dropper – and adjust the dose after observing the effects. You can see which way your pet likes most, however, we recommend that you start with a low dose and gradually increase if necessary. Some dogs and cats like to take the tincture directly from the glass dropper (which we do not recommend), while others prefer that we add it to food, water or their favorite treat.

NOTE: Try to avoid giving the oil to your pet directly through the glass dropper. That way you will ensure the product will keep their highest quality and avoid damages in case your pet bites the dropper and breaks it. This could lead to unwanted injuries.

Is CBD safe for pets?

CBD is completely safe for your pet to consume in the same way it’s safe for your own consumption. The effects of CBD come from its ability to stimulate the endocannabinoid system, which is involved in the body’s ability to process certain functions. These organic systems are found in all mammals, which means that many animals also have them. This system is something we share with our pets, and the differences are small enough that the effects of CBD on a human and an animal are extremely similar.

How much CBD oil should I give to my pet?

There is no clear-cut number that will tell you the amount of CBD you should give to your pet. You should follow similar steps as those you take when consuming your own CBD oil. Our Tinctures for Pets are formulated for small (300 mg), medium (500mg) and large (1000-1500 mg) breeds.

What's the difference between "human CBD" and "pet CBD"?

The major difference between your CBD and your pet’s CBD is that a product geared toward pets is going to provide a more suited concentration of CBD to their size and weight. Cannabidiol intake varies from person to person, as well as from animal to animal. One big factor in determining adequate CBD serving size is the weight. Someone who weighs more is going to need more CBD to feel the same effects as someone who weighs less. Similarly, the height can play a part in the effectiveness of CBD on humans and animals. A grandmother and a professional boxer will be consuming different serving sizes of CBD, and we can make comparisons like this for animals as well.

When it comes to CBD for pets, what is the serving size per weight?

There is no universal CBD serving size for animals or humans. However we recommend starting with 0.5-1 mg/kg CBD twice a day. The concentration and volume of CBD your pet consumes is mostly determined by their weight. Unlike humans, pets are unable to articulate the way CBD is affecting them, so this way of estimating their personal serving sizes is not feasible. Weight, then, becomes the universal measuring tool for establishing the amount of CBD oil  a pet should have. The amount of CBD increases in relation to the weight of the animal, meaning that a larger, heavier animal is going to require a much larger serving of CBD than one that is smaller and lighter.
